I was golfing in the By Women For Women golf outing fundraiser supporting breast Cancer. It was a shotgun start and my foursome was group B starting on hole 17. Two members of Susan G. Komen were at the hole giving prizes for anyone who landed their drive on the green. Group A finished playing the hole, so our group was next. My golf game had been challenging in the last couple weeks, so I wanted to get through the first hole and get moving. I had even mentioned I should maybe give up playing golf since I was playing so poorly. I swung first in my group and saw that my ball was headed for the green. I was relieved and turned to let the next person hit. That was when I heard, "It went in the hole." I looked and did not see my ball on the green, but was in disbelief. With all the excitement, my team was not going to hit, then decided it would be good practice. As a bonus, the Susan G. Komen staff allowed me to select two gifts for landing on the green. As we approached the green to confirm our suspicions, sure enough, it was a Hole in One! I describe it as a miracle since I had thoughts of giving up the game. Now I realize golf is meant to be played, to have fun with it, and accept any blessings you receive. Even the not-so-good shots may be practice for something better to come!
