Ace #7

At age 75 you often wonder if you will ever score an ace again on a par 3. I don't have the distance anymore that I used to have when I recorded 6 previous aces. This time it was a 5 metal wood whereas previously on the same hole with the same yardage and same pin placement I used a 3 iron. That club is now long gone from my bag. Hybrids have taken over. Pretty soon the 4 iron will endure the same fate. Oddly enough, the excitement has wained some. What I valued is the stroke I put on the ball. The results just add to the pleasure of a great shot. As a side note, the 6 previous holes in one were accomplished with 4 different forged iron sets and one cast set. My first one, which will always be remembered, was a 4 iron 190 yds. in 1994 using a set of 1972 MacGregor MT forged set. Back then, a set consisted of 2-10 iron. I still play those clubs at the beginning and end of the season. They are much lighter to carry when golf carts can't be used. Anyway, that's my story.
