An Ace on the Last Day of the Year
By Adrienne H On 4 January 2012
I was playing a round with my husband Mike and friend Chuck. My round wasn't going really well. Mike and I had been having an ongoing conversation about the WGA at the club having a hole in one pot to win. I had dropped a ball in the water on #16 and finished with an 8 on a par 4. As we walked off the green, Mike said the next shot is worth $300. I laughed and agreed. I watched the guys drive on #17, then stepped to the ladies tee box with my driver. I hit a beautiful drive and knew it was tracking towards the pin, but the tee box is lower than the green so you really can't see the green from the ladies tee box. I thought it looked good, and hoped that it went on the green as I usually don't hit the green on this hole. Meanwhile, Mike is yelling from the men's tee box that it was going to the pin, then he was yelling "It went in the hole" a couple times. I thought he was kidding at first. We hopped in the cart and went straight to the green. Lo and behold it was in the hole, just like Mike said! Pictures were taken and after finishing the round, we headed for drinks in the bar!
