awesome ace
By KJ R On 7 January 2012
It was an unseasonably warm day on Saturday, January 7, 2012 so I decided to head out to Marion Golf Course to play. When I got there the course was mobbed with people who had the same idea. I met another lone golfer who asked if I would like some company and I said yes. During our 9 hole round he told me that he was a pro who now worked for Dick's Sporting Goods. He also related to me that he spent two years on The Hooter's Tour and roomed with Zack Johnson for a while and that he had played quite a few rounds with K. Bradley. His name was Matt. Well, Matt cleaned my clock as expected - I wasn't playing very well. Matt decided to leave after the 9th hole and I decided to continue playing because I wanted to work on some things that had given me trouble during my 9 hole round with Matt. I am glad that I made the decision to not quit but to persevere and continue on because on the 8th hole I made the ace. No one was there to witness it but I stopped in the club house and reported it. They put my name on a wall with others who have scored aces at Marion Golf Course and congratulated me. This experience illustrates to me that you should not give up because had I given up and gone home I would not have scored the ace. There is really something to be said for perseverance.
