I was lucky enough to be able to test the new pro v1 ball for Titleist a few years back. I played the front 9 at Monarch Bay golf course alternating shots with the new pro v and the old pro v. When I got to the 10th hole, a par 3 playing about 173 yards, I pulled out a new pro v test ball from the sleeve. I let my two buddies tee off before me so I could watch their shots. I teed up my ball and grabbed my 7 iron. It was a beautiful day, no wind coming off the bay and the sun was shinning. I put a good swing on the ball and watched it take off with a nice draw. The ball bounced about 2 feet in front of the hole just to the right of the flag. It took a big hop past the hole then I couldn't see the ball anymore. I looked at my friends and they looked back at me. I said "where did the ball go?" They said " that will play". I looked at a guy that was behind the tee box working on his short game, he said "bro that's in the hole". I thought to my self there is no way I just got my first hole in one. I took off running down the fairway and left my cart at the tee box. As I approached the green I couldn't see the ball and started slowly walking to the flag. I noticed my ball mark about two feet short of the flag and just to the right of the pin. I slowly glanced into the hole, almost as if I was scared to look and there it was. My tiny little Titleist pro v 1 test ball in the hole. By this time my two buddies were getting out of the carts and running up to the green. We were yelling and jumping up and down. I took the ball out of the hole and held it in the air pointing back at the tee box where the guy was still working on his short game. He gave me a thumbs up and I got a big hug from my friends. I lucked out after the round, when I walked into the bar to buy drinks for anyone in the bar, there was no one in there. I will never forget that moment or the Titleist test ball. Thank you Titleist.
