Desert Lakes Hole Out
By Paul S On 20 October 2016
After 30 years of golf, I finally achieved a hole in one at the Desert Lakes Golf Club in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. My magical hole out was on the 18th hole from 143 yards with an 8 iron onto the “brown” – an oil / sand mix which serves as a “green” to finish par, birdie, eagle. I was fortunate to be with my brother Mark and 3 golf buddies, Richard from South Africa and Anthony & Bob both from England. Yes in the desert you can play a five ball! The club name is somewhat of a misnomer as the only water on the course can be found in the bottled water at the clubhouse! The wear and tear on a golf ball, even a Titleist, after 17 holes is reflected in the inset of my scuffed Titleist Velocity #4 golf ball.
