Dream Ace

I am 60 years old and have been golfing for 36 years. I raised two sons who both played College golf and my daughter-in-law is women's head golf coach at West Texas A&M University. I retired five years ago and until then, I was a 15-20 rounds per year golfer. Since retiring I play 3-4 times per week. While many of my friends have had one or more holes in one, I had doubts that I would ever have one. My biggest fear was that if I ever did; I would skull it and it would roll all the way to the hole. My "Dream Ace" on the other hand, was landing behind the hole and backing it into the hole. Well, on September 6th, that dream shot came true! I hit a Titiest Pro V with a cally seven iron off the tee from 158 yards. I struck the ball well so I knew I would have a decent birdie attempt. I never dreamed the ball would go in. My golfing partners play from the forward tees so they were ahead of me. When the ball went in the hole, they shouted it out. When I arrived at the green I found my deep ball mark was about 30" dirrectly behind the hole. My "Dream Ace" came true! I guess I was a little numb to it as I was ready to move on and hit the same ball on the next tee shot. My partners said "No Way" and commenced to signing my ball as witnesses. They told me I needed to put the ball and scorecard in a shadow box. A little too much celebration for me but now I am glad for their excitement. Funny thing is; I had to look back at my bar tab receipt to get the date. All in all, I am grateful I finally got an Ace and hope I don't have to wait another 36 years for another.
