I had my first hole-in-one this past Sunday with my son Taylor, my friend Michael, and Don, a fellow that joined us as a single, as witnesses. My wife and daughter were at a Girl Scout camping trip the weekend, so Taylor and I decided to make it a marathon golf weekend. We played 36 on Friday, 54 on Saturday, and 18 on Sunday. The hole-in-one came on the 102nd hole of our "golf till you drop" weekend.
Michael is always saying "easy game" after he makes a good shot. Well, I made a hole-in-one on hole #13 at Heron Bay in Locust Grove, Georgia. The shot was 196 yards by Michael's Skycaddie. Honestly, I pulled out a brand new ProV1 #4 from the sleeve, and used a 980 Titleist 5 wood graphite shaft. The shot came off pretty sweet and straight at the flag, but a little low, and barely cleared the front bunker. The ball caught the front fringe and ran, and ran, and ran, to a pin placement in the very back of the green. I yelled "go in", "go in", and turned to clear the tee box, thinking the ball had run past the hole. They started screaming "it went in the hole!" Sure enough, it did. Easy game....
Extra special to have my son see the shot. Amazing too that I witnessed his only ace he made at Quail Hollow hole #16 in Ohio on our day off during his play in a travel team baseball tournament some years back. I witnessed his, and he mine. Incredible!
