El Dorado 17th hole

I was invited to play a round of golf with my friend, Bill Hausch, with his regular foursome. I was definitely out golfed as these guys play twice a year to me playing once a month at best. Having recently taken lessons I was focused on controlling my shot and hitting straight and in control. I had some good shots this day but not my best round. On the 17th tee I decided to over club the shot and hit an easy swing. I hit the ball very well and could see the flight path both up and down was in line with the pin. We were shooting into the sun so it was a bit hard to see and I could not see where my ball had landed on the green. I assumed it went long. I asked the guys in the party if they saw my ball and two replied, you were straight on the pin and as far as I know it could be in the cup. I took this a joke. When I was at the green I could not see the ball on the green or behind, someone asked, Roy, can you see your ball. I replied no. He immediately said, "Bill look in the cup". A few seconds later I heard Bill yell, "Roy, you have a hole in one".
