My dad got me started playing golf when I was 5 years old. I won various golf tournaments growing up, including 3 straight club championships. Invited to walk-on the Iowa golf team back in the mid seventies. Continue to play golf when possible in league and various best shot events. After a lifetime of golf, I had never hit a hole in one until yesterday. My 11 year old son asked earlier in the round if I had ever had a hole in one. I said no & that he would probably have one before I did. We were playing the 134 yard par 3 9th hole over water, with a slightly blind shot to the hole. After I hit the shot, I thought I heard the ball hit the flag stick, but wasn't sure. When we reached the green, my son ran up to the hole and looked in. He yelled it's in there! I was shocked and in dis-belief. A golfer from another foursome heard the commotion and came over to get our picture next to the hole and flag stick. To say the least, it was an exciting day. I told my son I had waited 48 years for a hole in one and I was glad he was there to witness it! Thanks!
