I've been playing golf since 1982, competed for 3 years and in all my travels and the many courses I have played, I had never had a hole in one.
I recently started trying to change my swing to protect my back and after struggling for a couple of months and hitting it all over the parking lot (literally), I decided to try and go back to my swing from last year (seems every year we have a different swing).
Anyway, spent two days the week of Septmember 24th hitting about 400 balls to try and get the feel for my "old" swing. As I have a daytime job, I didn't get to play until Saturday morning the 24th. I didn't have a tee time and when I got to the course (Santa Clara GC in Nothern Cal), I had a chocie of going out almost immediately or taking my chances almost an hour later, so I decided to forego my normal small bucket of balls and go to the first tee not sure what to expect.
I started out hitting the ball okay but nothing I had been doing all day gave me any indication of what would happen on the 17th hole. I got to the 17th tee, which measures 192 yards from the back tees and after evaluating the wind (into and and from the right), I decided to hit a choked down 4 iron and hit what one of the witnesses called "a laser". I hit the shot and when it hit the green, I screamed, "get in the hole" and for the first time ever that I had ever uttered those words on a par 3, the ball actually listened.
I've been a die hard Titleist guy (they sponsored me back in the early 90s when I competed by supplying me with balls and hats), chances are that I am going to be like one those gun loving fanatics, "I'll give you my Titliest when you pry it from my cold, dead hands!" Love my Pro-V1X and can't see myself playing anything else.
