The Day: October 10, 2015....The Place: The Pearl Club @ The Summit in Owensboro, KY.
Hole # 3 135 yards over water.... north wind blowing in our face.... normally a 9-iron for this 56 year old granddad....but today playing 155 (in my mind)....pulled out the 7-iron to make sure I carried the water....hitting a Pro V1 #7... hit the 7-iron... I was yelling for it to go...go...one of my playing partners ( Randy Eakins ) was saying IN....the ball hit about 2 feet short and right of the hole.....one bounce left into the hole...another member of the weekend group ( Andy Fiorella ) was on the 2nd hole green and looked over when we were yelling... to see and yell its in the hole...another playing partner ( Joe Maxwell ) said it went in at the same time Andy did.....I know it looked that way to me....but wasn't going to believe it until I took it out of the hole......I texted my girl friend ( Dana Thornberry )... who was playing 2 holes in front of us that i just made a hole in one.....I THINK....went to the green and looked in the hole..... and it was true !!! My first hole in one !!!! 35 year wait is over...next on the list.....double eagle or otherwise known as the Albatross ......What a GREAT DAY of golf with wonderful friends !!!
