Geezer Par 4 Ace

Tuesday night league at Eldorado (Mason, MI) is a highlight of my week. A bunch of us play 9 before league for fun, and I shot one under on that 9 (BLUE). I was hitting the ball better than usual in the hot weather, and my play in league continued to be pretty good. #6 RED is a 301 yard Par 4, and I kinda hoped to reach it with the dry ground. Our league knows that #6 is a hole where you keep your eyes open in case someone on the tee gets close, but it is expected that groups will tee off before you hole out. When the group in front of us got on the green, I stepped up and hit my shot. There is a screen of trees that block the green, so I couldn't see the result, but the group ahead started shouting. I was afraid they were mad because I'd hit too close to them. When the rest of the group had driven, I drove ahead with my partner to apologize. They were waiting, and told me that they'd pulled the flag just before they heard my ball hit just off the green. it bounced on and rolled between them and did a drano into the hole. That was when they yelled! An unfortunate double bogey on the last hole gave me a 73, keeping me from shooting the best 18 of my life. At 57, I thought my chances for an albatross were gone. Maybe someday I'll get one on a Par 3, but if not, this shot was the 'shot of a lifetime' for me. The ProVI that dropped in the hole will be on display in my office from now on!
