Visiting U of M Alumni friends in Michigan, we played the university home coarse, Radrick Farms. I had a brand new box of Titleist NXT Tours for the occasion. A sparkling #3 with my standard blue-sharpie smiley face was given honors on the first hole; a 508-yard par 5, slight dogleg left to an uphill green. I hit driver to 214 just off the fairway into the right rough. A clean 3I split the greenside bunkers and diappeared over the front edge of the green. Finally, reaching the green we found three of the four of us, but not the blue smiley face. After much searching and head scratching, I finally concluded that the Titleist #3 was more amped up than I imagined and headed for the rough off the back of the green...but first just one peak...no I'm sure it's not...but, you never know...OHMYGOSH! Yes, there it was, peaking up at me from the bottom of the cup...a blue smiley-faced Titleist NXT Tour #3. Double-eagle! Only the second recorded at Radrick Farms. That #3 was, and will only ever be, hit twice.
