Great Saturday Morning
By Randy G. D On 12 August 2012
It was crisp Saturday morning at Deerpath Golf Course in Lake Forest, IL. For the last six years our foursome had been playing on Saturday morning. This year we have the 6:00 am tee time. Today our usual foursome would be only at twosome my wife and I. I was having a good start to my round and had just made a par on the fourth hole. The fifth hole is a par three with the DesPlaines Creek running in front of the tees. There is a pond on the left side of the hole that runs the full length to the green. The tee is slightly elevated and today the pin is on the front portion of the green. The tees were back and the distance was a 174 yards. There was a slight breeze blowing from green to tee. I usually hit my 5 Wood 180-190 yards. I thought with the breeze I would need a little more club today. When I hit my 5 Wood it tracked just to the left of the pin and was tracking towards the pin. My Titleist NXT Tour ball hit on the front of the green bounced once and released towards the pin. At first I thought it was either very close to the pin or just pass the pin. My wife was watching the shot and said "Did it go in the hole. " After she hit her tee shot and we started walking towards the green. I could not see the ball on the green or anywhere near the pin. I knew the shot had not gone over the green. I quickly walked up to the green and their was my Titleist NXT Tour ball in the hole. I could not believe it after 36 years of playing golf I had finally made a hole in one. I will remember this day for the rest of my life. I cannot think of anyone who I would have wanted to be their with me to celebrate this memorable event than my wife and best friend. Titleist thanks for making a great golf ball.
