Hole In Hole
By Carl M On 1 August 2012
I have been playing golf for years, and have come close numerous of times to having the hole in one shot, one even went in and out of the cup. I was playing in my weekly work league and have won numerous "closest to the pin challenges" throughout the year. Yesterday, 7/31/2012, I was having one terrible round where nothing seemed to be working in my favor, missing short putts, hitting the smalles limb on a tree and throwing my ball onto the next hole, etc. This is when we approached the 17th hole on the White Course. One of the golfers in the foursome told my golf partner he would buy beers for everyone in the clubhouse if he and only he got a hole in one. I had asked if anyone in our league has gotten a hole in one, and actually the one golfer who made the bet did it a few years ago. The hole was playing 183 yards and the green was uphill about 30 yards, and the flag was tucked behind some trees, which forced you to play a slight draw. I used a 5 iron and it seemed to be tracking the pin the whole time, however I thought I was short as it seemed to have landed just over the hill. When we climbed the hill and approached the green I could only see 3 of the 4 balls and there was no ball short. One of the golfers suggested I look in the hole and I gracefully leaned over to see my accomplishment. Needless to say I gave out a cheer, which might have sounded like a little girl yelling, but I have now had my first hole in one....my round however was not something to share about though.
