I have been playing golf for 43 years..started when I was 11 and never a hole in one. So I was content with my game and lack of an ace. So it came as a surprise when on Saturday June 10th 2017 I recorded my first ace using my custom imprinted Titleist ProV1x #19 (My birthday date). It was a 158 yard par 3 8th hole at Dpwning Golf Course in Erie PA with a stiff cross wind. I hit a solid 7 iron and saw it bounce twice and thought it came to rest behind the pin because I lost sight of the ball. I saw the twosome ahead of us raise there arms and holler...that is when I knew it went in. I dropped my club and threw my arms in the air and hollered (slightly pulling a muscle in my right arm..haha). When we got to the 9th green there were 4 groups waiting to tee off and one of my playing partners had to back off his putt because we both could here the twosome ahead of us telling all the groups waiting about my ace and then we here him say.."I think I was more excited than he was"..haha. I ended up shooting an 82 because 4 holes earlier I took a 9 on a par 4 all because of a snake near my ball. It had come to rest under an apple tree and wouldn't move. It actually was biting at my club head. I was trying to move him out of the way because I had to stand with my back against the trunk and right near the snake. It finally moved and crawled up the hollow rotten part of the trunk. Oh great..now I'm not sure where it will come out and took a quick swing and shanked it into my cart. Bam!!! Two stroke penalty and still near the tree. Haha. Another quick swing and the rest was history. Who knew an ace 4 holes later with my ProV1x. It was a great day!!! John E. Alberstadt
