It Never Left the Stick

The 15th at the Talamore Resort Course plays 221 yards to the center of the green with a slight down hill from tee to green with bunkers protecting the left and right sides of the green. I was first to hit and pulled a 4 iron from my bag. The hole was cut in the back right corner and I played it as a 230 yard shot. When I hit the shot my buddy Matt asked if I had "got it" I replied to him that I had. The ball never left the flag stick as it approached the green. The ball landed on the green about 10 to 12 feet short of the cup and bounced once and rolled towards the cup and disappeared into the hole. Matt said, "did that go in?" My other buddy Ryan immediately said "that went in the hole!!" I threw both arms up in the air and dropped my 4 iron on the ground and stood their frozen in disbelief for a few seconds before all hell broke loose on the tee box. My buddy Kevin, who was getting a beer and missed seeing it, immediately yelled "we're getting drunk on you tonight!!" My buddies Neil and Adam, who had just gotten to their cart when I hit immediately ran onto the green to look and the hole along with our other two buddies Chucky and John who had already started driving to the next tee box and turned around when they heard the yelling. We got down to the green and I walked towards the hole and looked in and there it was sitting in the bottom of the cup. It's the most surreal feeling I've ever had and it still hasn't sunk in yet. I've been playing golf since I was 8 and have come close a few times. I'm just glad that when it finally happened that I had a bunch of close friends and golf buddies to share it with me.
