Lost it

I was the last of our group to tee of on #8 at Piper Hills in Plainview, MN. The hole was playing 139 yards and I played a Prov1x a little forward in my stance. I hit a higher than normal 9 iron right at the pin. The sun was going down and I lost track of the ball as it fell. I told my dad that it looked very good in the air and since there was no wind, should be close. I was disappointed when we pulled up the to green and could still see it, although it looked strange the way it was sitting. Sometimes balls look very close when they are directly in line with the pin but I couldn't see the entire ball. I got out of the cart and walked toward the pin to find that it had flown about a foot past the hole and spun back, slamming against the pin and the side of the cup. I could not believe it. I told everyone to come look and stop chipping at the hole. Needless to say I was on the hook for a few beverages at the clubhouse.
