I truly felt that it was never going to happen again, but it did! Saturday, August 10, 2019 - during the Golf Week Amateur Tour in Indianapolis at Otter Creek Golf Course, I hit my 2nd hole-in-one! I was already having a rough couple of holes as I missed both fairways on the starting two holes and was worried how the first par-3 of the day was going to go. Groups already were getting backed up, and as we were pulling up to the tee box the group in front of us was just hitting the last shot. So now we're waiting for them to finish the par-3. The group behind us was now on the green of the previous hole and the group behind them were in the fairway. After a 8 or so minute wait, it was our turn to play. I had just pared the hole prior, and I had the honors. The hole was playing 181 yards with the wind just slightly in our faces. I hit a 5-7 yard draw, so I took a deep breath and locked in on my target. My target I make as small as possible, not a tree, not a branch, more like the last leaf hanging from the small twig on the bottom of the branch. But right before I stepped up to the ball, I took one step and always backed off to grab more club... Nope! The 6 iron I knew was perfect! The ball went up and started on it's path. I started it just off the left a little more right and it was coming right back around. The ball hits the green, rolls 5 or so yards and the ball disappeared... No one said a word until... "Chris, I think that went in...." Me - "You think so... IT WENT IT!!!!" I didn't even want to wait, I wanted to get up there as soon as possible to see it! This was going to be my first hole-in-one in tournament play, but my 2nd hole-in-one all time. I jumped in the cart trying to FaceTime and call my Dad and he answered, and all I said to him was.. "DON'T HANG UP!!! I JUST HIT A HOLE IN ONE!" He was on the phone with me as I reached down and pulled the ball out of the hole. Remember how I said groups were backed up? I had the group on the forward tee and now 2 groups behind us, a total of 15 people! What a moment for my second hole-in-one! The next night I went over to my parents house and gave my Dad the golf ball. Told him all the years, time, practice, playing, tournaments, everything... that ball was for him. This was also on the anniversary of my God-Father's passing, so it was a very emotional moment for me.
