My First 1

My second day of golf with my Uncle Dan Rion. It is an annual trek to Springfield, IL for me in August for a couple days of golf with a night at the Illinois State Fair. We played in a scramble on Friday, August 17th and I was not hitting the ball all that well. Looking forward to Saturday and playing our own round, I started off slow but was hitting the ball much better. I made the turn with a 45 thanks to a couple of bad holes. As we made our way through the back 9, I had a few pars and a birdie. We reached # 17 and Dan pulled out his range finder on the 178 yard par 3. It was playing a bit shorter at 168 yards....I pondered my club choice and decided on a 9 iron as it was playing a bit downwind. I hit the ball very solid and it was headed straight for the pin, then it dissapeared! No one in the group saw it land and I was afraid I flew the green. After several minuted of searching we could not find the ball and I was disgusted that I hit the ball so well with a bad result. Dan and I was around the back of the green when the other two members of our group Tommy and Craig were on the green. Suddenly Tommy yelled hey! your ball is in the cup! In disbelief, I walked up to the hole and sure enough, the ball rested on the bottom of the cup. we inspected the green and found the ball hit the back of the hole putting a huge divot inside the just above the cup and fell into the cup. We were all excited and shocked. I have only seen one other hole in one in my life, and to finally get one myslf, I was in absolute shock. The other bonus was that my Uncle Dan got to witness my feat. Dan had a hole in one a year or so ago from about the same distance. A perfect ending to a perfect round of golf!
