I have been playing golf for over thirty years and I had never made a hole in one. In fact, I had never even been in a group in which someone made a whole in one. I knew immediately that I had hit a good shot. The ball pitched a little short of the pin and rolled in. The satisfaction of executing a good shot suddenly became the thrill of a rare feat.
