My son's first hole in one!

It was a hot summer day in June at our home course (Willowbrook CC) when I witnessed my sons first ever hole in one! To actually be a part of his accomplishment was beyond exciting. We were playing a friendly round of golf with my neighbor Tony L. and my son's girlfriend's father, Waleed M. Tyler was playing extremely well that day and he was hitting the ball with great accuracy. We approached the tee box on #12, a 179 yard Par 3. Tyler used his rangefinder to determine distance and let me know his club choice (7 iron). The hole plays over a large pond and the green is crowned and slopes right to left. The pin location was left center. After he hit his ball, we all watched it hit the green heading for the right side of the pin. Tyler held his pose a little longer than normal than said, "I think it went in the hole!" We used his rangefinder to take a glance and there was no ball on the green. I said, "It might be passed the hole and we may not be able to see it from our view point." We all proceeded to hit, then made our way to the green. Tyler and I were walking side by side as we approached the crest of the green. I marked my ball and said, "I only see 3 balls and there's nothing over the green." As Tyler approached the pin and looked down, he looked at me and then looked down again. I said, "Is it in there?" He said, "Yep, it's in there!" then he picked his ball out of the hole. I screamed with excitement and ran towards Tyler hugging him and giving him a high five! From the looks of it, the ball hit pin high, then trickled left towards the hole and went in. He was right! It was amazing. To be able to share that moment with my son was priceless. The joy it brought him was endless. He ended up carding a 3 under, 68 that day and we were able to watch him strike the ball so well for 18 holes. It took me over 15 years to get my first hole in one. For Tyler, he only needed 5! The best part of golf is having your son as a playing partner! What a special moment; what a special bond. Blessed to be a witness and blessed to have a son to play golf with!!
