NO WAY

I showed up late. With precious few practice swings, we were off. I made 8 on the opening par 4 and 6 on the second hole, par 4. My 10 handicap ego was dying.

On the third hole, I teed off last with a seven iron. It looked good, but with the clouds, nobody in our foursome saw it land nor did we heard anything. What we thought was my ball was a leaf.

We looked everywhere. As the time to quit approached Paul said, "Maybe it's in the hole." I smirked and looked again over the green.

"I found it." I smirked again as he reached into the hole. When he pulled out a ball I thought he was pulling an elaborate hoax. But when he revealed my marking, I could no longer doubt that I had made my second ACE.

Unusually hot weather in July left the greens in poor shape. We didn't see the pitch mark six feet in front of the cup. The ball hit softly and rolled in without making enough noise for us to hear.

I can't agree with those who say the new Velocity balls don't spin. On the driveable 16th hole, I landed on a soft spot about 260 yeard and only moved 6" forward. Thanks Titleist, I love my Velocity balls.

PS: The rest of my round resembled the first two hole. I will display my signed score card, but not my score. I can't call "93" a trophy. With my first ace, I shot 33.
