My wife and I had just returned from a three week golf trip that went from San Diego to St. George, Utah and ended in Death Valley. Early in the trip I attended my 50th high school reunion, where I celebrated with friends who were with me when I made my first hole in one at the 20th reunion. I was relating this story to the couple we were playing with at the Palms course in Mesquite, NV when I almost aced the 14th (I think it was 14), but it just slid by. After playing Furnace Creek in Death Valley the weather became a factor and we headed for home, arriving in time to play in my regular game Saturday morning. I was telling my friends about almost making another hole in one on my 30 year anniversary of the first one when we arrived at the fifth hole. I was the second player to hit and when I made contact with the ball it went on such a perfect trajectory that I said "that could go in the hole". One of my playing partners scoffed at my prediction as we watched the ball hit on the front edge of the green take a bounce to the right and roll into the hole. We were all ecstatic. This was my sixth ace. Two of them I called in the air, one was a fluke and the other three were good shots that found the hole.
