Pro V1 hole in one by Bobby Lepper

On Saturday Nov. 5, 2001 while playing with Gary Curtis and Ken Moore, in my normal Saturday round, I had a hole in one. We were playing #11 at Brentwood CC outside of Nashville, TN and it was a beautiful fall day. Before playing #11, I did not realize what a perfect day it would be! On the front, I had 6 pars 1 bogey and 2 doubles, so I was playing well for my 14 handicap. I had just pared #10 when I stepped up to the tee box at #11. The pin was in the most difficult position, tucked behind a green-side bunker with a creek behind the green. The green has a hogs-back from front to back. The wind was approximately 5-10 in our face. We discussed the best way to attack the pin and agreed a high fade that hit on the top of the hogs-back and allowing for a right hand role would work best. The shot required a 150 carry and that is precisely the shot I hit. One of my partners was on the left side of the green and the other was just short (in the bunker). The three of us were perplexed when we did not find my ball on the green so we looked long down to the creek. When we did not find it, I went and looked in the hole. There it was almost as if it were smiling at me. I smiled at my playing partners and they smiled back. It was my first hole in one. I am 54 and have been playing golf since 13. In my 41 years of golf I can say that this was the most pleased that I have ever been. I went on double #12, 16 and 18. I had bogeys on #14, 15 and parred #13 and 17 for an 82 - it was my second best round of the year. Thank you Titleist for making a great ball, I'm not sure another ball would have bit. rolled and found the hole!
