Some things are worth waiting for

At age 67, I've waited a long time for this one. We were playing in an end of year league scramble and were having a pretty good round. One of my playing partners hit before me and his ball looked from the tee as though it was about a foot from the hole.

We were naturally interested because it was one of the par 3's selected for the closest-to-the hole contest. I hit next and we could see that the ball was very close, but we could still see the ball from the tee. We just figured it was very close and maybe inside of my partner's. A tap in birdie for sure.

As we drove up to the green, the ball disappeared. The wind had moved the flag that was holding the ball out and it had dropped in. What a surprise. That hole-in-one also gave us a one shot edge to win the scramble as a team. A great day for all of us. And by the way, we were all using Titleist balls.
