Struck gold on Sable Creek's Gold #4
By Patrick J On 20 October 2016
Carded my third career ace while playing a round of 18 with my brother-in-law at Sable Creek golf course in Hartville, Ohio on September 17, 2016. The course has three sets of nine holes; we played the Maroon/Gold combination. Morning nine's weather was mix of rain and light wind, but I'm glad we hung in there. We made the turn as the sun poked through the clouds. The Gold course #4 is a slightly uphill par 3 playing from the white tees at 176 yards. The pin was positioned in the front-center of the green. I hit a Titleist NXT Tour #1 using a png G-10 6-iron into a cross-wind. The shot was dead-on. Although the wind played with the ball a bit, it stayed on track landing just right of the cup. We watched as it pitched left, hit the flag and dropped into the hole. I looked at him as he looked at me and I exclaimed, "It's in the hole! Did that go in the hole? I just hit that in the hole!" And that's my memory of striking gold on #4.
