That Moment When You Get Your First Hole-In-One....On A Par 4

Away for a boys weekend with my dad and older brother, we are playing Osprey Point in Kiawah, South Carolina. The 7th hole is a 305 yard par 4 that slopes uphill with a slight dogleg right. I get up to the tee and drive it over the large bunker occupying the right half of the fairway and jokingly exclaim, “Dad, I think I just put it on the green!” As I roll my cart up, I don’t see a ball on the green. Immediately, I go to check the green side bunker to the left of the green to see if I ended up in the same spot as last round. To my surprise there wasn’t a ball. My dad instructs me to look behind the green, but to no avail, there was no ball to be found. Perplexed I ask the two of them, “where could it have gone? Could I have run out of bounds?” With this I start to walk towards the boundary markers. As I’m walking off the green, my dad walks over to the cup. He bends down and shouts, “Scott! What did you play?” I reply, “A Titleist 3, why?” He turns the ball over, and then tosses it to me with a big smile. He exclaims, “Holy smokes, you just got a hole-in-one!” And runs over to give me a celebratory hug.
