My name is Tyler Carlson, and I am 18 years old and got my first hole-in-one on April 18th, 2015. We had a high school golf invitational at Spencer Golf & Country Club, but the Spencer Invitational looked far from being possible with 90% chances of thunderstorms all day. I had been playing really well, despite only hitting 2 fairways all day. Then our group came to the par 3, 13th hole. It was a 152 yard par 3 that was playing longer than 152 because it was into a 20+mph wind blowing into our faces, yet slightly left to right. I was the first member to tee off because I had just come off a previous birdie on 12. I naturally play a fade, and the tee boxes were set up as far left as possible, with the pin being on the far left side of the green. With my type of shot, there was an overhanging tree that would come into play with my shot. I played the shot just to the edge of the overhanging tree, hoping the ball would gradually turn over towards the flag. But my 7-iron shot was a little tugged and somehow managed to sneak through the tree. Thank God it did, because the ball kept turning towards the flag until one of the members of my group said, "Oh yeah this is looking good!" The ball landed on the green pin high to the left of the stick and spun into the hole! I normally do not get lucky on the golf course, so I figured the ball was just sitting behind the flag and I just could not see it from my angle. Until a spectator, that was standing near the green, yelled, "IT WENT IN THE HOLE!" I turned a little and looked at him and questioned him asking, "Wait, it went... in the hole?!" He said yes, and I did not have any idea how to act. I had always dreamed of myself doing cartwheels and running around like a maniac. But it happened so quickly that all I could do was smile and give high fives to my playing partners and spectators. I ended up paring the next hole, surprisingly, and went on to win the Spencer Invitational by 3 strokes, shooting a 71 (-1). On a day that seemed to finally go my way, I also got my first hole-in-one. God wanted me to win that day, and he wanted me to have a day to remember for the rest of my life. How else could we have avoided the 90% chance of thunderstorms and not get rained on at all until the tournament was over?
