The Greatest Day of Golf

With a 90% chance of thunderstorms all day long, the chances of The Spencer Invitational happening were slim to none. For some reason, the storms did not come that day, until the tournament got over with. It was a day with 20 mph winds and overcast skies. I found myself playing very well, and after a birdie on the 12th hole, I found myself on the 13th hole standing 152 yards from the flag. I naturally hit a fade, and with a 20 mph wind blowing into our faces with a slight left to right diagonal wind, I thought the tee shot was going to be very difficult. Especially with the tee boxes set up as far left as possible, with the flag being as far left as possible too. This hole setup also puts the overhanging tree into play. I took out a 7-iron and planned to hit a knockdown 7 just to the left of the green and hope it did not hit the tree and landed on the green. I hit it perfectly, the only problem was that it hit the tree and redirected itself just a little to the left. That redirection turned out to play perfectly as the ball came down on a perfect line. One of my group members said, "This is all over it!" The ball came down and hit pin high, then spun to the right the perfect amount until it fell into the cup! I went on to win the Spencer Invitational by shooting a 71 (-1). On a day that was not even supposed to happen due to the 90% chance of thunderstorms, I am really glad it did happen!
