The perfect shot

We started on the back nine. My club, Norbeck Country Club, of Rockville, MD has 10:00 am shotgun starts for winter weekend times to beat frost delays. We came up to the 16th hole, the second par three of the day, a 110 yard carry over water with 25 yards of fairway before a nasty back to front sloping green and feeling a slight breeze from behind and from the left, I checked my sky caddie SGx and it read 145 yards to the center. The pin was 4 paces from the left and 1 yard short of center. I pulled my Titleist AP-2 forged 8 iron from the bag, teed up my #4 PRO V1x a little higher than normal for spin and gripped down about 2". I lined up and put a smooth swing on and pured it. The ball started at the center of the green and flew with a high, slight right to left draw and hit the green behind and to the right of the stick. I hollared "go in" as the ball spun back and to the left and this time it obeyed my command. All four of us watched it disappear into the cup. My first ace! High fives were flying and so was I. Go Titleist!
