I had been teaching my friend Razen how to play golf for the past 5 weeks or so, and he's getting into it pretty well. So when our friend Adam, whom we hadn't seen in many years was back in town, he decided to plan a 'spur of the moment' twilight 9 at our local track. While I was picking up a pizza, I got a text to be at the course asap, so I went home to get my sticks and took my pizza with me. We got a late start to our round so we had to play at a brisk pace, not to mention the fact that we were playing with a beginner and a four year old. My friend Adam and I are long time golfers, so he decided a skins match was in order. I got off to a cold start and we split the first four holes, then I got hot and took the next four. Finally we get to the ninth hole, the sun had set and the moon is the prominent light in the sky. Being the competitor that he is, Adam decides to wager double or nothing for the round on the last hole, in the dark. I could barely see the pin tucked in the back of the deep green on the 157 yard par 3, so I pulled my 7, teed up my Pro V and fired it at the moon. Literally, I used the moon to line up the shot. The shot initially felt fat, and I couldn't determine if I got the ball first, not to mention I lost it in the darkness. I just knew I hit it on my line but I thought it was short. Adam, on the other hand, thought he knocked his 7 stiff. We got to the green to see there wasn't a ball on the green, confirming my suspicion that I was short, so I went into the weeds to try to find it. Adam found his ball long off the back and chipped on. When he walked up he noticed a ball mark right behind the hole, which he initially thought was his but saw another a few feet back. Then he went into wait a second mode, these were his words: "Bro, there's a ball mark right next to the hole...wait mine is back here, who's shot is this? ...... are you sure you were short? ... DUDE ... THERE'S A BALL IN THE HOLE!!! TITLEIST 4!" In a state of confusion I said "That's mine. Is it dirty?" That's when we realized I had nearly jarred it and backed it in for a phantom ace.
