Feb. 5th was the 25th annual Truselo Golf Tournament at the Avalon Golf Links on Feb. 4, 2012. We were playing a four man best ball scramble with my team of close friends starting on the 3rd hole of the South course. As we waited for the shotgun start to sound, my group and group B for the hole were talking about various hole in one stories and joking that we would hit one. Two of my friends hit before me, one mis-hitting their ball and landing 20 yds. short on the par 3, the other hit the ball fat and only went about 30 yds. The hole was rated at 105 yds. to the middle of the green, the flag was positioned back right on the right to left sloped green. It was my turn to hit and I line up a little right of the hole. Being a lefty, I wanted to play my natural fade into the hole and try to end up just below the hole. Using my Titleist AP1 GW I took a solid shot hitting the PROV1 perfectlly, as the ball approached the green it looked really good. The ball hit just about 5 paces past the hole and had enough back spin and slope to pull the ball back down to the hole hitting the middle of the cup and flag stick and making a "clink" sound we could hear from the tee box - going in for a Hole in One!
this was my first hole in one yet - been playing for just over 15 years! And to have it hit in front of 3 close friends and 4 other bystanders was freakin awesome!!!
