While playing with a group of 16 Friends in a 4 day outing in Angola Indiana, I made two Hole in ones on consecutive par 3's.
It was our second round at Glendarin Hills Golf Club, and I had already played the front 9, struggling with a 45. The first Par 3, hole #13, was 164 yards and I took my 8 Iron and landed it right of the hole and it ran down a slope to the hole where it momentarily stopped while I bent over to get my tee. It then fell in as my playing partners all started cheering. This was my second Hole-in-one for my lifetime, and I was on cloud nine.
I started playing better and by the time we got to the next par 3, hole #17 which was playing 134 yards, I felt confident and used my gap wedge. It is a blind shot hole, but we saw the ball land on the front edge and kick towards the flag from the tee, we all figured it had a chance to be close for the closest to the pin contest we hold for each par 3. As we approached the green the ball was not on the surface of the green and my playing partners started looking short and long, when one walked up to the hole and sure enough it was there.
The roar was heard on several other holes as we cheered and high 5'd. None of us could recall ever hearing about this - let alone witnessing (or in my case actually doing it!).
I ended up shooting a 38 on the back for an 83 and was greeted in the clubhouse by my friends and others who heard.
I was given a flag by the course, and had my group of 16 sign it (the attached picture).
The next day was our last and playing a different course, Trine Universities (Zollner) course, I had to face the next par 3 - and subsequently bogied it...
It is a feat, and memory that will last a lifetime.
