Double Eagle to Win

When I was 18 years old and competing in my High School regional championship after the first day of competition I found myself 2 strokes from the front and with a good performance on the upcoming round a shot at the state tournament. I played solid golf on the front nine and found myself in the lead making the turn. After a costly double bogey on the 15th hole I managed to stop the bleeding with pars on 16 and 17 and found myself now 2 strokes down coming into the par five 18th. Competing alongside the leader I knew that I would have to apply some pressure off the tee and did so when my drive from my Titleist 983K found the center of the fairway and my competitor found the rough to the left (which was the one spot you couldn't miss.)

After the leader was forced to chip back into play leaving himself 230+ to the green I knew his chances of making birdie were pretty slime and I was now faced with my decision to lay up or attack. I approached my shot to find my Pro V1 sitting up perfectly on a little patch of crab grass and new it was a sign, the lie was too perfect to not go at the green and my yardage was 255 yds. to the front and 265 to the hole (a perfect distance for my Titleist 3 wood) Needing double eagle to win and eagle to tie if my competitor made par i knew I would have to trust the shot that i visioned in my head and comitt to executing it. I struck the shot with everyone gathered around the 18th waiting for the final pairing to come in and knew that it was the one I wanted. I knew it would be close but I had no idea what actually happened. I approached the green to find my ball 3 and half feet away from the flag and made the put for eagle with my competitor making par and thus forcing a playoff. Walking off the 18th green my golf coach pulled me to the side and let me know that my shot had lipped out around the hole and nearly went down for the double eagle. needless to say the momentum from that shot carried over into the playoff, which I won and captured the title!!!
