My first hole in one!

My first hole in one!

My home course was underwater due to flooding in the area so myself and a group of friends booked onto another local course, Cambridge Meridian Golf Club. The first time a few of us had played here. On the morning of the round Meridian called to say they only had 9 holes open which we could play twice to make an 18. Not impressed by this my friends and I decided to look for another course to play. As we were going through the booking process for St Ives golf course another call was received from Meridian letting me know that the green keeper had opened all 18 holes, we were back on! I have only been playing golf since May and quite honestly have only ever been within 5 foot on a par 3 once, that was until the 15th at Meridian. A 186 yard par 3 playing slightly downhill with a wind in to. Two of my friends had stepped up and played slightly short of the green. The sun was low and facing directly at us. As I hit my iron to the green we knew it was on a good line but because of the low sun did not know where the ball had ended. After the 4th of our group hit his tee shot we began the walk downhill to the green, as we approached the green we could only see one ball on the green itself, had I gone long? My playing partner was the first to the hole and exclaimed, oh my god its in the hole! Pictures and videos were taking and it was a great moment to share with some great friends. In the bar afterwards, unluckily or luckily for me, there were 4 other golfers and bar staff for me to share a drink with. All in all a great moment for me and something that may not have happened had my home course not been underwater or if we had decided to play another course once finding out that originally only 9 holes were open!
