Finding the Right Golf Ball for Three-time European Tour Winner Andy Sullivan

At Titleist, our goal is to help golfers at all levels to play better and shoot lower scores, and being fit for the right golf ball is an important part of that.

We took Titleist golf ball loyalist, Andy Sullivan, through our Tour-validated “Green-to-Tee” fitting approach that we use for all golfers, from the world’s best players through to high-handicap amateur.

Step 1: Assessment and Selection

Titleist golf ball fitting begins with an assessment of your game, your performance objectives, and your personal preferences. For Andy this began on the range at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championships where he’d go on to begin his tenth season on the European Tour.

“I play Pro V1x at the minute, I played Pro V1 halfway through last but just wasn’t getting enough spin so I switched to X. Let’s put it to the test!”

Step 2: Green-to-Tee On Course Evaluation

The Titleist Green-to-Tee fitting process involves an evaluation of all shots on the golf course, with the greatest emphasis placed on shots around and into the green.

“Round the greens what I want more than anything is that one hop and stop, that’s what I like around the pitching area.”

Step 3: Putting the New Ball in Play

Using the same model golf ball on every shot of every round eliminates performance variation, builds confidence and consistency, and will ultimately lead to you shooting lower scores.

“It’s massively important, you can’t expect to out there and play well and not know what the ball’s doing for you. It’s very important to actually get these things nailed down. For me, I’m happy to see the consistency throughout the bag so, yeah, buzzing with that.”
