Garnett Punches Ticket To PGA Tour with Portland Open Victory

Titleist golf ball loyalist Brice Garnett (Pro V1) captured the regular-season ending WinCo Foods Portland Open, securing a return trip to the PGA Tour as one of 25 players who earned promotions for the 2017-18 Tour season.

Garnett closed with a 6-under-par 65 en route to an 18-under-par 266 victory total.

He finished four shots clear of four players, including fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Abraham Ancer (Pro V1x), Ben Silverman (Pro V1) and David Skinns (Pro V1x).

In fact, Garnett topped a leaderboard that included 11 Titleist golf ball players among the 13 who finished in the top 10 and ties.

“I thought if I shot 3 or 4 under this afternoon, it would be a pretty good score,” said Garnett. “I was able to get to 6-under. I was trying to stay in the moment but boy, this was a special day.”

Among the 25 players advancing to the PGA Tour are four Titleist full product line Brand Ambassadors, including Chesson Hadley (#9), Andrew Yun (#13), Lanto Griffin (#22) and Ethan Tracy (#24), as well as Ancer (#3) and Silverman (#10).

In fact, a total of 19 of the 25 players who earned PGA Tour cards relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

“This is huge,” said Garnett after the win. “I had a goal of winning the money list this year and this puts me in great position, with a good four-week stretch in the Finals, of getting fully exempt.”

Garnett is now headed to Columbus for the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, the first of four tournaments in the Tour’s Finals Series.

The Tour Finals will determine the second set of PGA Tour cards earned via the 2017 Tour, as well as Priority Ranking for all 50 cards (including the first 25 earned through the Regular Season.)

Seventy-five Tour members have qualified for the four-event series. They will compete alongside those PGA Tour players who finished among Nos. 126-200 in the 2016-2017 FedExCup points standings.

Congratulations, Brice!
