So Yeon Ryu Captures First LPGA Major of the Season with New Pro V1

Relying on the New Pro V1 golf ball, Titleist golf ball loyalists So-Yeon Ryu birdied the 18th hole at Mission Hills GC to force a sudden death playoff at the ANA Inspiration. She then holed a five-foot putt for birdie on the first playoff hole to earn her second career major championship (her first came at the 2011 U.S. Women’s Open).

“You know,” said Ryu, “when you have a 5-foot putt (to win a major), you cannot be really normal. My hands were shaking so much, and then my brain was just going crazy. But I just kept telling myself, ‘Okay, So Yeon, you’ve practiced this putt more than a thousand times. Trust yourself, trust the line you pick, trust your decision and trust what you've been working on.' And then I rolled it and it falls. That was a pretty nervous moment. But it was a real special moment, as well.”

Both playoff participants officially finished regulation at 14-under-par 274, with Ryu firing four consecutive rounds in the 60’s. With the victory, she's expected to vault to No. 2 in the Rolex World rankings.

Ryu topped a leaderboard that featured six Titleist golf ball players among the top 10 finishers.

Congratulations, So Yeon!
