Having had the white boxes at Bandon, my gut feeling was the X was distinctly different than I was used to. I’ve been using the 2019 V since my last fitting. This time the X won on Trackman. For my swing, the results were closer to Trackman’s ideal. In the past, the X felt too hard, but not with this release. ...And my swing speed is far, far below 105 mph.

It’s worth doing an evaluation even if you’ve been using the same line for 20 years. Your results should vary, but everyone should go with the best ball for their game. The X in amber will be on my shopping list this Spring

Hello Don. I have an 85 MPH swing speed and have been using the AVX's primarily because they feel softer. Unfortunately I hit them very low with my driver, but not with my irons (T400's). Did you feel that the 2021 V's felt softer that the 2019 version? How about launch angle? Thanks!

The X was closer to the V in feel with the 2021. My last ball fitting flushed the X after wedge and during a 7 iron. I gained a degree of launch. 2 degrees of descent and 500+ rpms over the V. For me it came down to better control on greens. I give up some distance on short irons and wedges but the roll out is tighter. Would love to use an AVX for long second shots but switching balls for controlled shots isn’t allowed under the rules of golf.
A softer alternative to the X/V is the Tour Speed. Just on a limited trial it rolled out less than the AVX. I didn’t include the Tour Speed without a release date for the amber.
Each of us plays differently so whatever gets the ball to the hole first is what you need to use.

    Don,
Interesting notes from your fitting. I was fitted once again for the V but was done through a virtual fitting. I may buy a sleeve of the X and give it a try.

    Thanks for sharing

I got fitted for Irons and Driver and they always used Pro V1x in the fittings.

Finding later that a Pro V1 was better for me.

Got a lesson for the first time in years and found I was kind of picking and fading my shots. Now I actually take a decent size divot.

Have any of you found as lessons/progress changes that you have changed along the pro v1 line?

Also whatever happened to the Demo balls? I think last demo I did they gave me pro v1s from 2017 was fitted 2020.

I moved to the T400 and found the AVX wasn’t launching as well as the V. I’m working this winter with my coach to fix some long standing issues. With my first lesson today I have some corrections with my backswing to work on. By the end and hopefully by the time of a loyalty sale the X will still be my best fit.
  8. I have been a long time Pro V1 user, especially like the softer feel with my irons. As I'm getting older and think my game could benefit from a slightly higher launch, with a little extra spin. I received the 2021 Po v1 test balls & went to local golf shop and picked up a sleeve of the Pro V1x to compare. My gut feeling is that I will make the switch this season if the V1x feels close to the 2019 V1.
