Best titleist golf ball for senior swing speed

    I am turning 68 this month. I shoot anywhere from 78-88 per round. My distance is fading but still have good short game. What ball do you recommend.

    Hi, may I suggest you try the golf ball selector under the golf ball section. Maybe you will find the perfect golf ball. Keep it in the short grass.

    Best to go to a Titleist Ball Fitting or a virtual fitting if an in person fitting is unavailable in your area. We are having a Titleist Ball Fitting here at the club next week and am also 68, so I'll let you know how that went.

    Am 75 and still getting great results from the Prov1s. Was fitted for them years ago, play with them the year round, regardless of the temperatures or weather.

    Just finished my in person ball fitting here at the club. Was fit into ProV1X, which is a departure from ProV1, which is the ball I now play. The ProV1X gave me a higher ball flight, with no difference in feel (for me) chipping, pitching and putting. The last time that I did a Titleist Ball Fitting was 5 or 6 years ago, so things can change.

    Man you guys are old!!! I'm much younger (only 66 years) and my ball of choice is the ProV1x and I highly recommend it.

    I will be turning 68 this month. In the senior leagues that I play in, I need to shoot 73 (par 70) to maintain my handicap. I play at least 150+ rounds a year...back and wearther permitting. I no longer worry about hitting it real far. I do worry about the ball feel and flight from 125 yards in. That's why I use Titleist Tour Speed, for Senoir swing speeds. I have used other "senior swing speed" balls, but I find myself going back to Titleist Tour Speed.

    A found a Tour Soft once and played it. I used the word "whoa" on my first drive. That ball had wings and a nice, soft feel if that's a consideration. Buy a sleeve and see what you think. Try the Tour Speed as well.

    At 75 my carry is about 225-235 with the Prov1 and with roll can get it out there to 255+ with my TSI3 (Fujikura Speeder 661 TR). Still getting 150 with my seven iron. Like the distances and performance with all my irons and hybrids. My clubhead speed is in the low 90s and ball spin around 2400 rpm and ball speed 132. A good fitter has helped with these numbers, even at my age. Those Fujikura Speeders are awesome shafts, which I have on all my metal woods. My game is bipolar at this point due to back and hip issues, plus they redid bunkers and our greens which are tough to hit, hold and putt. I currently loose ten to 15 strokes a round in our bunkers and on the greens with the renovation. Better times will come. =)

    I read this a really got a great laugh. Those distances sure have changed but not my golf ball. Still playing the Prov1 golf ball. Probably around 210-220 now. Only wish. Actually played with the Prov1x the other day but the ball felt just a little to hard for me, especially on the putting greens. Had not played with the x in a number of years. Found on on the course and said think I will hit it and played well of the tee but where the I needed the scoring most, which was on the green, not my cup of tee. I am still a Prov1 guy and the ball I was fitted for many years ago. The distance, accuracy, feel and sound is right. Of course my Titleist clubs help also.

    When we do events with the Titleist rep, most seniors seem to pick the AVX as their gift when choosing golf balls.
    They like the extra length. .

    First thing to do is set up a virtual golf ball fitting with Titleist. After your fitting, Titleist will send you some samples to try out which were determined from your virtual fitting session.

    As for a ball recommendation, the AVX is the alternative to the V and X which has less spin and flies lower compared to the ProV1. You still get the soft feel with the AVX. Consider the ball characteristics against your swing/game to determine what works best for you.

    I'm 65, and I second the virtual ball fitting recommendation. After sharing and discussing some of my numbers with my fitter, he recommended (and sent!) the ProV1x. Although clubhead speed is important, and probably the most important data point to consider when deciding on what ball to play, other numbers help with the decision as well. For example, my spin rates throughout the bag are low, even when taking into account my low swing speed (91 MPH with the driver).

    I'm 68 and play the ProV1x. After quite a bit of testing, it's the ball that works best for me. One thing I've noticed is that off the tee all golf balls go pretty much go the same distance. It's around the green where the ProV1x really shines for me.

    64 and loving the prov1x gives me slightly higher ball flight and better stopping power with the shorter irons

    I'm 63 and after knee issues, my swing has slowed down. I have played the AVX since its inception for its feel and stopping power. I am hitting the ball lower and find it more difficult to hold greens. It may be time to give the ProV1X a go!

    Jim, the feel might take some getting used to, especially putting. It took me a couple of months to get my longer lag putt distances down but it was worth the extra work. What I gained in wedge spin and short iron height has been extremely important to my scoring. Hopefully you have the same results.

    The Prov1 has a 388 dimple pattern which would mean it would spin more while the Prov1x and the AVX have 348 dimples which would make them spin the same. Less than than the Prov1.

    Less dimples, less spin.

    Chuck...I was under the impression that the X had a higher flight and spin than the V1. I may need to try both.

    64 and a 3 hcp. I play prov1 out of habit. Never really tried another ball except AVX in cooler spring rounds. I do like the yellow option, but don't go out of my way to find them.
