Brooks Koepka Wins the U.S. Open with his ProV1x shooting 16 under par for the tournament.

I have to say I am absolutely dumbfounded at how far these guys hit the ball. He used his 3 wood to drive it 375 yes on the 18th hole ? Really ???? The course was set up to 7,800 yes on Sunday and he still shoots 5 under for the day. So what's next ? Titleist certainly makes some awesome equipment and their balls are second to none. But it is obviously more than just the tools. These guys are true tradesmen at their craft. When I looked at the previews for Erin Hills I figured this would be a typical U.S. Open with a winning score barely above par. How wrong I was. Over all, I missed having the big stars shooting it out given that most of them missed the cut, but it is great to see so much talent deep in the pool. Golf is in great hands right now. Every week we can see a new winner. Oh yes... Let us not forget to mention the win by Brooke Henderson !!!! Thrilled to see her win again. Also very glad to see Michelle Wie playing well again !

Hey Darius! I have to agree with your observations - for the most part. It reminded me of a quote attributed to the late Bobby Jones after Nicklaus won the Masters (1965 I believe), in which he said "He (Nicklaus) plays a game with which I am not familiar".

Koepka and Justin Thomas with those 3-woods were amazing. I mean look at how far they went! JT's 3-wood on 15 and then again on 18 was amazing as was his round. Koepka yesterday, same thing with his 3-wood shots!

I do think though that Erin Hills played less like a US Open and more like the Player's Championship. The fairways were the widest in recent memory, the rain softened up the fairways to keep bounce and roll to a minimum. And, the lack of wind for the most part meant that the players could "bomb" it more off the tee and not get as penalized as they normally may have.

Something is to be said for the physical conditioning and specialized training that is available nowadays such as the TPI based programs that are helping players. It's a "revolution" in the game of a different nature!

there was a good interview during the final round with Brooks and how he talked about training with Dustin Johnson. These guys are true athletes, no wonder they hit it so far

Great observation Darius. It's unthinkable really when you look at the distance these guys are getting. I play a regular game with a friend who has that distance in his game and it's unreal to watch him hit it. I generally hit my driver in the 260-280 range and on Saturday on the 18th I hit a good one right down the middle and I had about 140 into the green for my 2nd shot. My friend hit 3 wood and had 95 left. Ya, 3 wood! What's weird is he doesn't look like he's even taking a rip at it! All smooth.
