I was curious how Titleist tour pros get fitted for their wedges? What is the process?
Thanks.

Good question... We hear so much about driver, oron and ball fitting, but I don't think I've ever heard about anyone being fitted for a wedge with any scientific thought behind it.

Straight from our Fitting manager at our Test facility. This is the facility where we will bring in our touring professionals to test out new equipment and confirm specs.
A wedge fitting at the Oceanside Test Facility begins with a discussion about set make up, so we can determine how many wedges the player requires. Next we work on yardage gapping on full and 3/4 shots. After observing the player's technique, we test for sole design, bounce, loft, lie and length. We may also discuss shaft options, based on what the player uses in their irons. As we test, we adjust loft and lie. It is not unusual to fine tune a wedge and turn a 54 into a 53, and in the process, try two different lie angles. We will also have the player hit different shots around the green. This helps us determine which model performs the best in the bunker and the rough, as well as tight lies. In most cases, there is a clear cut winner when fitting a sand or lob wedge. If the choice is not clear, we usually opt for the wedge that is the easiest from the bunker. In addition to fitting the Vokey SM2 line in conforming and non-conforming grooves, we also fit the TVD M-Grind wedges that are featured on Vokey.Com.
