    Hi all,

Had my first "proper fitting" today at our Titleist fitting day at my home club here in South Wales. Really great to see the launch data on the trackman, an amazing bit of kit, and now I know why you need to be fitted properly. The fitter Richard really had a great idea of what would suit after me hitting a few solid shots, not sure if its a good thing but I was hitting it really great today! I have a set of 990's with S300 shafts standard loft and lie which I hit too high if its windy, so he started me out with some CB's in the S300, I hit a few shots and they felt really great, the ball was still going high though, we checked the length and lie and I was standard standard which is always nice if I need to grab an OTR wedge! My 6 iron swing speed was 96 mph just in the range to go for X100 shafts so he put me in them and as long as I didn't go after them and kept my rhythm they went very nicely with a lower flight, still high but lower! About 170 yard carry which is a touch shorter than I would normally hit it (more of my 180 club) but our range is uphill (although I guess the trackman removes that variable) I wanted a split set so I tried an MB in an 8 iron and boy do those look great. So in a couple of days I'm going to be ordering CB 4-7 and MB 8-PW with DG X100 shafts.

Moving on to my wedge fitting, had to change as my gap between PW and GW had gone from 4° to 6°, and I wanted to see what bounce would be best for me. Learned a lot about my swing in the wedge fitting and I'll be going for a 50.08, 54.08 and 58.08 in the spin milled (old grooves baby!!!!) with wedge flex shafts for more spin, hopefully black nickel but maybe I'll go oil can for the glare reduction, although the satin is quite nice!

Finally, I didn't want a new driver, nothing I've hit goes as far as my png G2 (Sorry Titleist!!), but I am tempted to change my cally steelhead III with an S300 (+1" length) that I've had for years, its like a baby driver off the tee because of the deep face but tougher to hit off the deck so I wanted to compare with a 910 F. My 3 wood carried 225-230 yards with plenty of roll (according to trackman) so I asked Richard what he recommended, he grabbed an X100 steel shaft banged it in and hey presto 235 yards and a better flight off the tee and the floor. I also tried a project X graphite which went just as far but not as accurate. I think if I an stretch to it I will eventually buy that 3wood!!

A great day and some great Titleist service, now its just trying to get our pro to give me his best deal......I think he might do something since I'll also be getting some new dryjoys with him when he gets them in!! If anyone has a chance to get fitted I highly recommend it, really lets you know your gaps and lets you find out exactly what suits your game!

    Thanks Titleist,

    Dan

So glad to hear you had a great time at Titleist Fitting Day!  So much more fun than just picking something based preconceived shaft and head variables!

Thanks RC!! It was a great help watching inside the studio and keeping up with the MGP site, that really made me decide to go get fitted properly!

If I win a big number on the lotto now I think one of my first crazy purchases will be a trackman for my golf club!! They are so much fun!!
