I am relatively new to the site, but just wanted to express my thanks to Titleist for promoting such an enjoyable fitting experience. I got fitted a couple weeks ago by Joe Colbert (an advanced fitter at a near by club). Joe was very friendly and knowledgeable. This was my first time getting professionally fitted and I couldn't be happier with the results.
We started with the D3 head in an 8.5, as it appealed more to my eye. After hitting several balls with the Ahina made for Titleist in a stiff flex, it was obvious that we had the right head and setting (ball speed 165-168, launch between 14 and 16, a spin rate a little over 2900, ball going straight with maybe just a slight draw on A-1). I thought the shaft felt a little too whippy for my, so we worked our way through several shafts from there (both stock and exotics in different flexes). In the end it turned out the best shaft for me was the RIP 60 in a stiff flex, as the launch angle stayed in the 15-16 range and we got my spin down between 2450 - 2600.
Finally got to take it out on the course this past weekend, and all I can say is...WOW!!! The ball (Pro V1x) just seems to jump off the face with a high but penetrating ball flight and goes forever. I was consistently hitting it out there between 290 and 305 with limited roll (course was still pretty wet from all of the rain we have gotten lately). I know it is a little early to say, but this thing is quickly becoming one of my favorite clubs in my bag. Planning to get get fitted for the 910 fairways at the end of the month, since it appears from all of the comments on the board that they are just as impressive as the drivers.
Thanks again,
Chris
