I am 5'5" tall and heavy set, play to a 10 handicap. After the purchase of my AP1's and needing a flatter lie, an expert club fitter employed by a major golf club retailer convinced me to have him shorten the shafts 3/4" to flatten them. Impact tape confirms that lie is correct, I love the clubs but I have not felt the club head since the shortening. Hitting a lot of thin shots? I know the swing weight has dropped, anyone know how many swing weights I lost? And will lead tape fix the light feel or should I reshaft? Or wait for updated model this fall?

Your swingweight has probably dropped about 4-5 swingweights.  We can reweight the heads to some degree depending on the heads and you can also add a lighter grip to bump the swingweight back up.  Lead tape will also help if you don't mind the look.

Where would you put the lead tape on an AP1? My shafts are 1/2" short using GP Tour Wrap 2G which I think are lighter than the tour velvets. My shafts are dynalite gold SL R flex.

How would you reweight the heads?

I use the W with my AP1 and feel I would like to make it a little heavier.

    Thanks!
