I just loaded my 909D2 with the Mitsubishi Fubuki Alpha 65g shaft (3/4" longer than standard) with one of the new "go lighter, go faster" Winn Lite Hero grips. I usually play a Golf Pride New Decade. I did not cut down the shaft any shorter. Just hit about 50 drives at the local range with pretty good range balls.
Well, the results are in: It does feel like I am getting a bit more speed (but I didnt have it measured). I can definitely feel the clubhead more during the swing - its a fairly significant, different feeling. The most surprising thing to me however was the change in my ballflight. My usual drive trajectory was fairly penetrating, not too low, not too high, but just about right. With the Winn Lite grip, my ball flight was significantly higher, maybe 15-20 yards higher - it wasnt balooning at all and it was still a nice trajectory, but just higher than with my usual standard weight grip. Does that make any sense to anyone out there who is knowlegeable about swingweight stuff? I'm going to keep it on for a few rounds and see what happens out on the stage.
