Connor, my recommendation would be not to pick based on other people's preference but to test them both out against your game and pick the one that works best for you. Use the on-line ball selection tool on the website or find one of the last remaining ball fitting events if close to your home. If you can't do a formal testing, just buy a 3-ball sleeve of each and try them out on your home course. My ball in the past was always the ProV1 but the newer ProV1x performs better with my slower swing speed. I am working to get used to the firmer feel, especially on putts where i was very used to the softer feel of the ProV1.
  3. I was just curious to see the difference I like the prov1x
  4. Its definitely a great ball but I prefer the pro v over the x but each to their own.

I'm keen to try the avx first hand to see if I like the characteristics of this ball over the 2019 pro v1.

Stick with it if you're having a good time on the course.
  5. Just try each for a round or two and keep stats...and more importantly keep track of how you feel about each of the balls. It takes 5 parts hard numbers to 1 part feeling to come to a decision. You have to make the decision yourself based your own honest appraisal of your game.

Go to a ball fitting... Or buy a sleeve each and hit your practice facility and work from green backwards!

I play ProV1 and I'm convinced it's because I prefer a black number.... works for me though!

I am a Prov1 user. Have been since high school. The soft feel to me is irreplaceable. I have tried the X and its a great ball, but i prefer the feel of the Prov1!

Great question! For Christmas, my sister in law bought me a dozen Pro V1s. In the meantime, I purchased a dozen Pro V1x balls. I had played the Pro V1 in the past and thought it was the only ball to play, that was until I tried out the V1x. The difference is night and day. My swing speed is about 100mph, and I'm a 15 handicap. Played a V1 on a par three at my home course, and for the first time the ball spun back towards the hole... I've NEVER had a ball spin back, and it was amazing. The V1x feels so long off the tee and solid like a rock... the sound and feel of the V1x is so solid and crisp, where the V1 feels very soft and almost spongy off the tee.

Just play the V1 for the front and the V1x on the back and see what you prefer, that's really the only way to do it, in my opinion.

Have always played the PRO V1 X, but have to say that the new PRO V feels really nice off the club face.
  13. I've bounced back and forth a few times between the two, but I always seem to come back to the ProV1. Like most members on here, feel is not a major factor for me. I just tend to play better when I use a ProV1. New Mexico can be really windy during the spring/summer, and the ProV1X's added loft can be a disadvantage on some days. The mid-range flight of the ProV1 allows me to play more consistent and deal with the elements a little better.

Pro V1 for me. Love the feel and I didn't notice much a difference in performance between both

I prefer the ProV1, been playing it for years. I have tinkered with all the other balls via test packs and so forth. I have not found any ball that compares.
  16. ProV1s for me. Like the lower flight with a little less spin on short iron & wedges.
