I have and use custom number balls, usually purchased during the loyalty program days each spring. From time to time, I also order custom play numbers through MyTitleist. The white balls can be ordered with custom play numbers 00 or 10-99. I noticed today that if I wish to purchase custom play number YELLOW Pro V1x balls, I can choose only numbers 1-4. Why is this the case? Will other custom play numbers ever be available for purchase?

I also noticed that Titleist added some new alignment aids for use on custom order balls. These alignment aids cannot, however, be used if you purchase balls with any other personalization or logo. Again, why is this the case? I can easily see an order for yellow Pro V1x balls with my custom number, personalization, and the TT alignment aid. Would be superb.

  2. I think it comes down to popularity. Yellow balls aren't as popular as white so it's not cost effective.

Take a tour of the ball plant and you will get a better idea of the volume and impact of special orders to the assembly line. There are limited yellow being made right now as overall sales will dictate how many can be produced. There are so many white ProV1 sales that they can make batches of any number and someone will buy them. They can't easily produce small batches of yellow ProV1x with separate numbers without major impacts to overall production. They would almost have to set up a whole different manufacturing plant for custom orders which would be really hard to do given the mass production process that is key to quality control. It would only drive up variability and the cost of custom balls. Also, the logo and alignment stamping is done after manufacturing of the ball which already will have the regular alignment identifier on one side. That only gives them one side for customization. Pretty far trip from Spring TX but if you are ever in the Boston area, its worth seeing.

If they can set a side (1) one dozen golf balls and put my name, maybe logo, cool new alignment aid, and special number, say 9, I don't see what color has to do with it. Make it available to ALL models.

James, they do now offer those things that can be "personalized" after production like name, special logo, etc. on the Yellow ProV1/ProV1x and all the models of balls. The comment was in regards to the numbers 1-4 and why not numbers 0-99 like ProV1. Those numbers and the Titleist logo are manufactured in during assembly. The custom stamping on the side is post-production. Big difference in post-production stamping and running enough of a special number thought the full assembly. They can do that for white ProV1 as they get enough orders to do special number batching but too few of the lesser volume balls. Sorry if my earlier comment wasn't clear. See you are from outside Portland. Love flying in there every year for our golf week at Bandon Dunes.
  6. I get 33 as my logo on my yellow Titleists not the same, but it’s better than nothing.
